Kayan's 2016 personal status rights campaign was aimed at raising awareness about issues related to personal status (e.g. marriage, divorce, child custody etc.). The campaign targeted the Palestinian society in Israel and featured activiites in the field (such as workshops and lectures) as well as intensive online and media work. Key subjects highlighted in the campaign included domestic violence, and gender-discrimination within the legal system (e.g. unjust divorce and child custody laws). The campaign aimed to open honest discussions about these taboo subjects, and to bring key issues related to personal status to the social agenda.
